Statement From The World Peace Council
On The Global Day of Action Against The War

March 18 marks the third anniversary of the beginning of the brutal war and occupation of Iraq. More than 100,000 Iraqi people and more than 2000 foreign invaders, especially U.S. soldiers, have died in a war based on deception and greediness that has plunged Iraq into bloodshed and chaos.

The same lies about "terrorist menace", "weapons of mass destruction", "drug traffic" and other accusations used to start aggressions against Afghanistan and Iraq are being used to demonize and threaten other Third World nations in order to justify eventual "preemptive" attacks against them.

As the threat grows, the global Peace movement must take action now to stop the war and prevent any new military actions. Only a massive peoples' movement will be able to stop the warmongers.

The WORLD PEACE COUNCIL strongly calls upon Peace organizations, pacifists, antiwar activists and groups to join in a united mobilization against the war in this gloomy commemoration focusing our protests on ending the criminal occupation of Iraq and getting all foreign troops out.
