It is a voice for workers, a source for progressive news and analysis, and its presence on the Internet is growing. From its weekly print newspaper to a daily source of new and important articles with local, national, and international focus, the People's Weekly World's new Web site has become a place that has more to offer readers than ever before.

Matt Parker, who works in the internet department at the Communist Party, which has a close relationship to the People's Weekly World, and helped relaunch its Web site talked with Political Affairs about it.

"We wanted to make it a home for people on the Web to read progressive news on a daily basis," Parker said. Readers will find news article and top headlines with a progressive and working class orientation about what's going on in the world.

The new site will carry ads, links to an editors' and readers' blog, and a multimedia section that includes video and podcasts, Parker said. The new site also contains a number of ways readers can interact.

"If new readers are not ready to write articles, they can at least comment on the blog site and join this progressive community," Parker stated. "It is a way for new readers to help generate content for the Web site and interact with other people who also use the PWW as a source of progressive news."

Parker added that the current site is part of a transition to an even more developed and activist site in the very near future. "This Web site along with the Communist Party USA's Web site, the Political Affairs' Web site, the Young Communist League's Web site will be integrated along with a couple new sites including an online Marxist university and an online progressive action network."
