HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 23 (acn) Grenada´s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Peter Charles David, reiterated his country´s rejection of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade of Cuba.

During a meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque in Havana, Charles David affirmed his rejection of the US measure, which has been in force for nearly 50 years against the will of the majority of nations which, with their vote at the UN General Assembly, have backed Cuba´s demand for the lifting of the US´s unilateral and coercive policy.

The visit by Grenadian official to Cuba is in tune with the importance given by that Caribbean island nation to its relations with Cuba. Diplomatic links between both countries date back to 30 years. Charles David recalled that his country´s international airport constitutes a testimony of bilateral relations.

The Grenadian minister expressed, on behalf of 19 of his countrymen, his gratefulness for having been allowed to study infirmary in Cuba, while another 100 Grenadians are being benefited with different scholarships.

Felipe Perez Roque, on his part, thanked Grenada for its firm stance against the US blockade, a position commonly assumed by the members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). He said that during Charles David´s visit here, both parties will be able to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

All CARICOM member countries are benefiting from the Miracle Operation free eye-surgery program. Over 57, 100 people from 15 Caribbean nations have been treated under the initiative.
