Montecristi, Ecuador, Jul 25 (Prensa Latina) The Ecuadorian city of Montecristi, headquarters of the Constituent Assembly, is celebrating the approval of a new Constitution that represents the hope for a better nation.

Over 500 people gathered together since Thursday morning at Montecristi square where people were celebrating, in advance, the new constitution's approval with music and the green flags of Acuerdo Pais movement and Ecuador.

The celebration continued until late at night with fireworks announcing the approval of the new legislation at the Constituent Assembly, backed by 94 assembly members from a total of 126 attending the last plenary session of that institution.

The 32 votes against came from the minority, while 4 were absent, the three members of the Democratic Network Group Leon Roldos, Martha Roldos and Luis Hernandez, and Independent Mae Montaño.

Meanwhile, the city celebrated this historical event in advance, inside the Eloy Alfaro facility, delivering vigorous speeches of assembly members expressing their position regarding the Constitution.

Gustavo Darquea, from Acuerdo Pais Movement, voted Yes because the legislation makes most of the Ecuadorians' dreams come true, because they have fought for years for a change in the country.

'We have established a true political revolution and depoliticized the control entities and the electoral function,' he said.

Darquea emphasized the legislation consecrates 'the economic revolution' with a social and cohesive economic model in which the market will no longer create hunger.

To come into effect, the Constitution, with 444 articles and about 20 temporary regulations, must be ratified by the citizens in a referendum scheduled for September 28.
