Push for Universal Health Program

There are times in history when you and I must take action. This is one of those times. An Obama Presidency and a Democratic Congress gives us the best chance yet to win a national, single-payer healthcare system in the US.

We worked hard to build a movement for HR 676. This is where we’ve always wanted to be.

We face some challenges. Fresh off the $700 billion bailout of the banks, a GM bailout is now hanging in the balance. We can, and must, convince Washington that a single-payer, national healthcare system is the best way to help the auto industry. HR 676, the legislation we seek, will save auto companies millions of dollars in healthcare costs for their workers and retirees. It must be part of any recovery plan.

HR 676 will keep jobs here in the US!

It will be up to the new Congress to do the right thing and pass national, single-payer legislation. Saving a ton of money, and getting the insurance companies out of control, is big goal for all of us.

We can do this.

You have supported Healthcare-NOW as we have promoted single-payer healthcare, and we’ve made great progress. Please send a contribution today to keep us working and on track. Just make a credit card donation via the website or send a check to Healthcare-NOW, 339 Lafayette Street, NYC 10012.

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

HR 676 would implement an expanded and improved Medicare-for-All system by removing for-profit private health insurance and providing a publicly funded, privately implemented comprehensive, guaranteed national healthcare system with everybody in and nobody left out.
