MADRID, March 31.— A US company that administers several servers in Sweden and Europe blocked the web sites of the Bolivian Information Agency and Rebelion, an alternative Spanish media.
The censorship affects users of the Swedish state-controlled Telia telecommunications company, which provides Internet and telephone services and is dependent on the U.S.-based connectivity provider CogNet, reported Prensa Latina on Monday citing the Rebelion web site.
The measure was adopted unilaterally and blocks access to the Bolivian news agency and the Rebelion web site by all Internet users through Telia servers.
Telia confirmed to its clients that CogNet blocked access to some Spanish and Latin American pages without specifying if the service will be reestablished, said Rebelion.
According to Rebelion, Telia is the largest Internet provider in Sweden and is associated to other entities in the Nordic countries.
