A Legible Marxist IQ for Mitt, with Apologies to Our Readers by Norman Markowitz

I sent the coming week's Marxist IQ through and something strange happened.  The body of the text was so small it was not legible.    Maybe this is a shape of things to come in a Romney administration, if it comes to that.  Nevertheless, here is the IQ all over  again

1. All surveys  of tax policy across the globe show that  countries with the lowest incomes have

    a.  the highest personal income and business taxes

    b. the lowest personal income and business taxes

2. Twenty-first century studies of the "Fortune 500" companies have shown that

    a. most pay the 35% official corporate tax rate

   b. 50% pay the official rate

   c. only a small fraction pay the official rate and some even receive refunds

   d. those with the hightest profits pay the highest rate

3. Even though the only factual basis for Mitt's contentiion that 47% of the population does not pay income tax comes from the fact that 47% do not owe the government anything after withholding taxes, this statement is evidence that Mitt

a. is trying to cover up the fact that he paid 13% on an over 20 million dollar income

b. believes that he can use the big lie technique with impunity

c. doesn't know from personal experience what withholding taxes are

d. all of the above

4.  While real  taxes on individual high incomes and  corporations have dropped sharply over the last three decades, all studies show that during that period

a. real wages have grown significantly

 b. regressive federal payroll taxes, local property taxes, and state fees for roads, tunnels, bridges, etc have grown sharply

 c. regressive federal payroll taxes, local property taxes and state fees for roads, tunnels, bridges, etc, have remained the same

d states and communities have used the federal tax decline to significantly increase funding to upgrade education, infranstructure and social services

5. Although most Republicans and all U.S. reactionaries denounce progressive taxation as "socialism," in a socialist economy

a. capital/productive capacity/wealth is pubilcally owned so there is no reason to tax it

b. the tax rate is high only on political opponents

c. workers pay a "workers gains" tax

d. workers receive a solar energy depletion allownance
