I want to apologize for hastily referring to Ronald Kent as "Rockwell Kent," the great peoples artist of a long time ago at the beginning of my post.  I was asked to find a link to the original exchange, and in looking for it,(I didn't find it) I found an ideological wasteland of red baiters  discussing the issue in cyberspace. 

First there were the conventional rightwing  red baiters, who call themselves "American" the way Hitler called himself "German" and make their own chauvinisms into the nation and its people  Nelson Mandela for them must now be condemned as a representative of the ongoing red menace, and all "true Americans" must turn against the "liberal media" that has given him sainthood. 

Then there were the anti-Semites, denouncing Joe Slovo and other South African Communists as Jews(and of course a significant number of white SACP members were of Jewish background) which for them of course discredits anything that any person of Jewish background is connected to in much the same way that anything is discredited for red-baiters by any involvement of any Communist with it.

There were even some Trotskyists denouncing Slovo and the SACP for betraying the South African Revolution.  I mention this because by comparision, it more than anything else shows the intellectual and moral superiority of the Communist position and the futility of all forms of red baiting
