For several years, the civil society advocacy groups, non-governmental organizations, and many professional organizations...both in Palestine and in Palestinian exile communities, have sponsored a boycott, divestment, and sanctions campaign. aimed at both Israeli corporations and other economic activities of an international character, this campaign...called BDS... has also targetted US and other western corporate entities. In the US, this campaign has targetted the Caterpiller corporation, whose bulldozers and graders have been used to destroy Palestinian houses and neighborhoods. It was one of these Israeli-driven vehicles that crushed to death Rachel Corrie, a US volunteer working in solidarity with the Palestinians against Israeli aggression. It should come as no surprise that, like their counterparts in apartheid-era South Africa, the Israeli government has declared BDS a criminal act.
