Nepali Gov't. to Finalize Policy Document

KATHMANDU, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Nepali six ruling parties have dwelt on the coalition government's policies and programs to be presented by President Ram Baran Yadav on Wednesday.

The cabinet meeting scheduled for Tuesday will finalize the policy document, according to The Himalayan Times.

According to 69-point draft obtained by the daily, the government's top priority would be to bring the peace process to a logical end, write new democratic and federal constitution on time and bring about socio-economic transformation.

All the agreements, including the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA), reached in the past with several groups would be fully implemented, stated the document.

It has also appealed to all agitating groups to call off strike and sit for talks.

The work of adjustment and rehabilitation of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) combatants would be completed within six months as per the CPA and other agreements.

A high-level Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission to find cases of disappearances would be formed soon. The government will act on its report.

Foreign policy will be drafted keeping in view national interest and United Nations Charter.

Economic diplomacy would be promoted and Nepali embassies would be strengthened with resources. The government would give top priority to maintain law and order.

New transitional economic policy will be introduced in line with the ruling parties' Common Minimum Program.

Economic policy will envisage high economic growth rate and justifiable distribution of economic benefits.
