HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 5 (acn) Twelve US business associations, including the Chamber of Commerce, sent a letter to US President-elect Barack Obama urging him to lift the almost fifty-year-old trade, financial and economic blockade of Cuba.
According to Granma news daily, the text asks Obama to end or at least to initiate the process of scrapping the blockade.
The letter was signed by the US Chamber of Commerce, the National Retail Federation, the Grocery Manufacturers Association and the National Foreign Trade Council, among other business organizations.
“We support the complete removal of all trade and travel restrictions on Cuba,” reads the text.
“It is simply wrong that US citizens are not free to travel to Cuba,” the letter adds.
