CHOWCHILLA, CA - 19JULY07 - Hermilo Lopez, a Mixtec immigrant from San Juan Mixtepec, Oaxaca, works in a crew picking bell peppers. He's 61 years old.

Adalilia Avila, an immigrant from Acapulco, Guerrero, flirts with Heronimo Lopez, a Mixtec immigrant from San Juan Mixtepec, Oaxaca, while they work picking bell peppers. Adalilia used to work in restaurants in Acapulco, but didn't make enough to live on, so she came with her family to Fresno. Her hands, picking bell peppers, move in a blur.

Domitila Pacheco, a Mixtec immigrant from Ayutla, Guerrero, and Lucia Hernandez and Orbilon Sanchez, Mixtec immigrants from San Juan Mixtepec, work in the crew picking bell peppers.

Other immigrant workers from Mexico empty the tubs used by the pickers into large bins.
